Stressed and Negative? Cheer up or Die!!!
I have a theory. The greatest thing about theories is that they are exactly that, and you don't need to prove them. But, please, bear with me. However, I have a lot of belief in it, and someday it will turn out to be the truth.
Worrying and negativity in general, stresses the body out, leaving you high-strung, frightened, awkward and otherwise uncomfortable. When your mind is all of these things for a prolonged period of time, your body follows suit. When you are mentally and physically stressed out (such as when all you do is worry and focus on everything not going well) you don't feel healthy.
Cortisol is a hormone produced in your body in varying levels, some is necessary. It is a hormone excreted when you are under stress. When you are chronically stressed out, your cortisol levels continue to go up, and they don't really have a chance to return to normal. This hormone does a number of things, for instance it:
Worrying and negativity are the actual cause of cancer. I'm not saying that as long as you are positive and kind-hearted you will remain cancer free for life. I'm not saying that five-year-old leukemia patients are nothing but negative nancys either. I'm saying that your outlook on things will kill you over time.

When you are chronically stressed out, your cortisol levels continue to go up, and they don't really have a chance to return to normal. This hormone does a number of things, for instance it:
- suppresses thyroid function
- impairs cognitive performance
- causes blood sugar imbalances
- decreases bone density and muscle tissue
- raises blood pressure
- increases abdominal fat
- and... Lowers immunity, triggers inflammatory responses, slows wound healing, and has other health consequences.
I always wonder when people blanket list problems under the "other" heading. Other always kind of has that hint that they don't really have it figured out, or they simply don't want to tell you. It lets the imagination wander. Or worry, depending on your mindset. Well, while we think that our culture's "other" column or unexplained phenomena column is particularly low, I don't.
Think of the thousands of things that the human race has been wrong about over the course of time. Actually don't, it will occupy your waking moments for the rest of your life. Could we please stop being so self-righteous? Like every other civilization, we have fallen under the assumption that now we finally have it figured out. HERE IT IS FOLKS, WE ARE LIVING IN THE ENLIGHTENED AGE. ENJOY THE LATEST EPISODE OF DANCE MOMS, FUCK... We need to get over ourselves and realize that we humans have not suddenly gotten tons and tons smarter. We have probably gotten dumber quite honestly. The evidence is everywhere.
We HAVE gotten more well-versed in technology, more advanced from a technological level, we have learned more about how to utilize technology to do work for us, but is that really us getting smarter? Not really. We have learned how to use computers and technology to help us be more lazy and think less.
If you want to actually make headway on something it is necessary to take in all of the possible effects. Not just a few...
Here's a couple of things to think about:
1. Did the medieval doctors putting leeches on sick people to purge their "bad blood" know that they had no idea what they were doing?
They probably thought that this was a solid idea, in fact they probably had a whole speech explaining why this method "worked".
2. Just because the lab rats are doing it, why should you?
What kills one organism, might not do anything to another. While it's not particularly groovy to mention it, they do use dogs for animal testing. Well, that's awful. But, why is a dog such a good comparison anyway? Supposedly a huge chocolate bar will end your dog's life. To us, it just tastes delicious, and in excessive amounts makes us fat and pimply. Well, isn't it a little presumptuous to think that the human to dog differences end at fucking cocoa??? Or better yet, the human to rat differences???
3. When a healthy thirty-five-year-old non-smoking, non-drinking man dies of cancer, what does science have to say about that?
4. When Keith Richards, everyone's favorite chain-smoking, former hard drug depository, and stellar guitarist celebrates his 70th birthday on December 18th this year what will science have to say about that?
Now, back to cancer. Ahh yes, cancer the only thing people are dying of anymore.
What if we think that cigarettes cause cancer merely because, coincidentally many people who get stressed out easily like to smoke, because it is relaxing, and forces them to take a step back for a moment?
Don't worry I'm not running to absolve big tobacco. Believe me, I barely met either of my grandfathers because of smoking. However, if your immune system is crappy from being stressed out all of the time, couldn't that be really bad. Yes, cancer is a complicated disease, however, it probably operates like a disease. Diseases find weak spots to infect. Ex. a weak immune system.
The compromised and stressed out immune system of the 45-year-old overweight stress ball; sucking down his thirtieth cigarette of the day makes a glorious host. His lungs are already irritated from the smoke after all.
Stress and negativity sits with you, making you unhappy. Personally, I equate these feelings with rotting. When you get down to the essentials, cancer is more or less like a type of rotting. Stress and negativity is a crappy way to live. Even if there is in fact no connection between stress or negativity and cancer then at the very least, just cheer the fuck up, so that you can go on with your life and maybe even accidentally enjoy some of it?
I wouldn't hold your breath on the cures to cancer or heart disease. Heart disease, that just sucks. Unless you take excellent care of your heart and genetics dictates that you'll be fine, you'll probably have a visit in your lifetime from the heart disease fairy. We don't even begin to understand cancer. We know what helps to predispose you to it, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. The more you read about it, the more you realize that a lot of what people have to say about it is merely guess work. So, with that said I will retire from guessing as well. Good Luck!!
